Labor Classification Descriptions

Project Director

The Project Director conducts quality reviews and acts as the liaison between the client’s project team and GeoDecisions.  Additional responsibilities include staff supervision relative to project production, and budget and schedule preparation and adherence.

Project Manager

The Project Manager has day-to-day responsibility for the activities of the project team.  He/she is responsible for all aspects of the project, including serving as the primary point of contact with the client, preparing project status reports, reviewing and approving all deliverables prior to submission, and supervising the work of all project staff. 

Development Manager

The Development Manager leads development efforts.  He/she provides technical leadership in areas such as system design, data modeling, application design and development, database design, requirements design, or other needed areas.  The Development Manager performs research and presents findings, and reviews the work of Lead Developers, Senior Developers, and Analysts.

Lead Analyst

The Lead Analyst works closely with clients to identify needs, solutions, and opportunities.  He/she analyzes user requirements, procedures, and problems, and writes detailed descriptions of user needs, program functions, and steps required for developing or modifying applications.  The Lead Analyst also assists with the preparation of proposals, papers, and project documents.

Lead Developer

The Lead Developer is responsible for high-level application design, development, and review.  He/she is responsible for the application of technology tools for solutions to clients’ problems.  He/she is also responsible for the review of programming work.

Senior Analyst

The Senior Analyst performs advanced GIS/IT analysis, cartography, and application development under the direction of senior staff.  He/she performs functional and system analysis, develops training material, and conducts training for clients, and performs database management and analysis.  He/she may manage tasks within a project, often working side-by-side with the client.

Senior Developer

The Senior Developer performs advanced application development design and programming under the direction of senior staff.  He/she uses programming languages, databases, environments, components, and deployment platforms for development.  His/her responsibilities may include: performing functional and system analyses; designing applications, including flow diagrams and graphic user interface (GUI); developing applications or program modules; and performing database management and analysis.

Analyst

The Analyst works under the supervision of senior staff and is involved in data development and entry, map production, analysis, programming, and application development.

Developer

The Developer reports to the Lead Developer and is responsible for reviewing the technical design and for writing the code for an application. The Developer is also responsible for conducting unit and module testing to make certain of quality before the code is submitted to the PM. The Developer is also responsible for professionally documenting all code that he/she writes.

Technician

The Technician performs a variety of data development, data entry, and document preparation tasks.
