My name is Candra, and I work out of GeoDecisions' Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, office as a UX/UI Designer & Developer. I’m responsible for prototyping web interfaces with application architecture and writing HTML and CSS to create user appeal while providing visual and coding assistance to other web developers and information architects. I like to take my HCI (Human Computer Interaction) knowledge and apply it to web and mobile application navigation. I’m also available to aid with any graphic design needs or anything involving the Adobe Create Cloud Suite (such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
Prior to joining the GeoDecisions team, I worked as a Web Content Developer. My responsibilities included keeping all company websites current and maintained, as well as filling the void as the company’s creative expert. In my spare time, I’m an active freelance artist and designer - I create everything from fine art, illustrations, websites - and provide development consultation. Years ago, I worked both as a senior graphic & web designer and multimedia art instructor for high school students. In these roles, I was involved with several construction management, architecture and government projects. This experience helped me tremendously for my current role with GeoDecisions, where I intend to continue learning.
Education and Expertise
I’m originally from Dallas, Texas, and found my way to Philadelphia for college. I attended Moore College of Art & Design where I double-majored in Illustration and Graphic Design. I’ve always had a deep admiration for art and composition; and I still have assignments from elementary school with doodles on my homework. I gradually started exploring ways in which my drawing and painting skills could be more useful in a corporate environment. This is what has lead me from drawing and illustrating, to graphic and web design, and eventually to user interface design and development.
This developmental journey has given me the opportunity to earn a masters degree in Computer Information Science from the Pennsylvania State University, Great Valley campus, and more than one development certification. With more than 11 years of experience in the developing world, my areas of expertise include: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Wireframing, HTML, and CSS.
Getting to know “Candronce”
When I’m not creating wireframes for GeoDecisions, I’m likely home creating artwork. I mostly work with pencil drawings, oil and acrylic paint, as well as digital graphics. I also enjoy hiking and going to the gym. I have an ultimate goal of one day transforming into “Candronce”… which is basically my version of Beyonce, haha.
I’ve worked with GeoDecisions for a short period of time, but there are many things to be admired. I love the flexible schedule (I’m usually an early riser, and I’m finding that starting work at 6:30am is perfectly fine). I also love how the company is technologically advanced, from Skype for Business to the Atlassian suite of products including HipChat and JIRA/Confluence. There is such an open line of communication, and the collaborative work environment aids in the creation of great projects - I’m really looking forward to what the future has in store!
