GeoDecisions Signs Year 3 Contract with OKDOT
November 13, 2002/Harrisburg, Pa.: GeoDecisions announced that it has signed a contract with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (OKDOT) for Year 3 of the Geographical Resource Intranet Portal (GRIP) project.
GRIP is a GIS-enabled intranet application that allows all OKDOT users to query, view, map, analyze, and report on enterprise transportation data. One of the main goals of GRIP is to provide consistent information quickly so that more informed decisions can be made about how to improve the quality, safety, and viability of Oklahoma’s transportation network.
During the first two years of this project, GeoDecisions planned, designed, developed, and implemented two versions of the Web application. Data available through GRIP includes bridge inventory data, bridge inspection reports, pavement management, needs study, crashes, inventory, programs and projects, Highway Performance Monitoring System (HPMS), at-grade railroad crossings, right-of-ways, and speed zones. GeoDecisions also assisted OKDOT in moving from an Informix® database to Oracle® Spatial, and in enhancing its GIS operations. Data editing tools and improved HPMS submittal processes have also been deployed during the first two years of GRIP.
More functionality will be added to the GRIP Web application during Year 3, including a Web Application Manager that will allow OKDOT to better maintain the application. The third year will also be used to develop an HPMS Manager that will automate the process of submitting HPMS information to the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) through an easy-to-use Graphical User Interface (GUI), and a Network Linear Feature (NLF) Manager.
“Everyone at Oklahoma DOT has seen how GRIP has streamlined workflows and increased efficiency for our workforce. With the difficulties in the budgets this year, our management still sees the need for our people to do their jobs with faster and more reliable information,” stated Jay Adams, Project Manager and the Assistant Planning Division Manager at OKDOT. “GRIP has become an essential part of our work environment, a priority investment, and I believe that Year 3 will take it farther and higher than anyone has ever dreamed.”
