GeoDecisions Creates RoSA for PennDOT
May 27 , 2004/Harrisburg, Pa.: GeoDecisions, a recognized leader in the information technology industry that specializes in geospatial solutions, has created a new Roadside Spray Application (RoSA) system for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).
RoSA is an intranet, Web-based spatial application that will assist district roadside spray specialists with the collection, storage, and review of spray data within their districts. The system will also allow the roadside manager, located in PennDOT’s central office, to oversee all roadside activities more effectively.
“RoSA is taking the department’s spray information from the file cabinet to the 21st century of GIS mapping and database reporting,” said Joseph Demko, roadside manager of PennDOT. “The development of RoSA has been an exciting and worthwhile experience which will allow our local maintenance operations to inquiry and map spray information in minutes from their computers.”
RoSA enables users to collect data in an electronic format and map viewing of new and historical spray data while easing the process of collection, storage, and retrieval. These features make RoSA an easy and cost-effective analysis tool, allowing counties and districts to reorder chemicals based on usage figures. The system also has the capability to tally cost and production figures for a specified time period.
