GeoDecisions Wins Open-End Contract
July 13, 2004/Harrisburg, Pa.: GeoDecisions, a recognized leader in the information technology (IT) industry that specializes in geospatial solutions, has just been awarded a $3 million dollar open-end contract with the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC).
GeoDecisions will provide SDDC with geographic information system (GIS) services and IT services for a three year period.
“A major focus of this contract is the continual enhancement of the IRRIS™ Web application for SDDC,” commented Robert Marsters, project manager for GeoDecisions.
IRRIS is a Web-based application that enables military users to obtain detailed, timely, and relevant information about road conditions, construction, incidents, and weather that might interfere with the movement of people and goods between forts and strategic ports. The program allows the responsible staff to access relevant databases which rely on the latest advances in IT, GIS, and location-based services to provide necessary and pertinent information.
In 2002, IRRIS saved U.S. taxpayers approximately $13 million and allowed SDDC to track 500,000 shipments worldwide. IRRIS also saved the U.S. $20 million by providing critical support during Operation Iraqi Freedom. For more information about IRRIS, please visit www.irris.com.
