GeoDecisions Assists in Development of VTIP
September 23, 2004/Harrisburg, Pa.: The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) selected GeoDecisions to develop an easy-to-use, Web-based spatial data portal, to assist in the development of the Virginia Transport Information Portal (VTIP). VTIP will quickly and efficiently provide access to static and real-time transportation information.
The goal of VTIP is to provide a near real-time view of traffic incidents and other intelligent transportation information in the Staunton, Salem, and Bristol Districts of Virginia. By making this information easily accessible in one location, VTIP will be able to support effective and responsive decision-making at VDOT’s Smart Traffic Centers.
GeoDecisions’ Geospatial Emergency Alert & Readiness System™ (GEARS™) technology, a suite of easy-to-use Web-based tools, will be integrated into VTIP, allowing VDOT users to readily access information needed for incident monitoring and decision-making.
