GeoDecisions to Provide Customized GIS Training at Fort Benning

February 14, 2005/Harrisburg, Pa.: GeoDecisions, an award-winning leader in the information technology industry that specializes in geospatial solutions, was recently awarded a contract by the U.S. Army Infantry School at Fort Benning, Ga., to provide customized ArcGIS® training to military personnel.

The new contract is an extension of previous work GeoDecisions performed for the Fort Benning military training facility. Prior, GeoDecisions converted the military’s IT Map and Land Navigation System into a GIS-based feature map. This vector-based map is part of the Military Operations on Urban Terrain (MOUT) system, which provides situational awareness during training missions. The most recent contract will enable GeoDecisions to train military personnel on the GIS technology that it incorporated into the Fort Benning system.

The five-day training course will include a session on the basics of ArcGIS software and how the different components work together to form a GIS software solution suite. GeoDecisions will also provide advanced GIS training sessions on ESRI® software that introduces users to Web-based solutions using their ArcIMS® technology.

GeoDecisions’ experienced staff of professional consultants, analysts, and developers supports clients across the United States. Fundamental to the company’s award-winning approach is the integration of spatial information to empower existing systems and processes. GeoDecisions’ philosophy is based on an enterprisewide approach to the integration of diverse information technologies, data formats, and systems.
