GeoDecisions Employee Co-Authors TSP Handbook

December 9, 2005/Harrisburg, Pa.: Miomir Ivanovic has co-authored a guide to the implementation of Transit Signal Priority (TSP) titled “TSP: A Planning and Implementation Handbook.” Based in Philadelphia, Pa., Ivanovic is the intelligent transportation system (ITS) regional manager for GeoDecisions, a leading information technology company specializing in geospatial solutions.

Prepared for the United States Department of Transportation, the handbook outlines a comprehensive process for public and private traffic engineers and transit planners to implement TSP. It also provides case studies and resources detailing TSP projects.

TSP is an operational strategy that facilitates the movement of transit vehicles through traffic-signal controlled intersections. TSP gives transit vehicles extra green time or less red time at traffic signals to improve the flow of traffic. Using the tool, transit service is more reliable, faster, and more cost effective. Traditionally used in Europe, TSP is becoming more popular in the United States.

With more than 15 years of experience, Ivanovic is responsible for multimodal studies, design, and construction management projects. He specializes in ITS implementation services for GeoDecisions and its parent company, Gannett Fleming. A member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers, Ivanovic holds a bachelor of science in transportation engineering from the University of Sarajevo and a master of science in civil engineering from the University of Wyoming.
