Delaware Turnpike Electronic Toll Collection
Client: Delaware Department of Transportation
We provided civil and electrical engineering services for the implementation of the new electronic toll collection (ETC) system on all Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) lanes at the Interstate 95 Toll Plaza and the facilities on S.R. 1, including six toll plazas and 38 toll lanes. Of the six plazas, one is a high-speed barrier plaza and two are unmanned ramp plazas. Some of the initial efforts included canopy-mounted enforcement cameras, antennas, and a lightning protection system; toll lane treadles and loop detectors; and toll island lights and displays. The design also included the complete renovation of the interiors of existing toll booths and required design changes to existing utility buildings.
