GIS Needs Assessment

Client: City of New Brunswick

GeoDecisions developed a GIS Plan to guide the City of New Brunswick GIS efforts for the next several years. The Plan process included a review of relevant computer systems, identification of user needs, and preparation of a Needs Assessment report. Identification of user needs began with a GIS Visioning Workshop to determine the GIS vision and strategic goals.

On-site interviews with city staff helped to determine the needs for GIS, identify possible priority applications, and yield key observations that relate to making GIS successful. The GIS Needs Assessment report presented recommended modular priority applications and actions, estimates of developmental and maintenance cost and effort, schedules, and organizational issues and solutions.
