Transit Signal Priority Planning & Implementation Handbook
Client: Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITS America)
We assisted ITS America with the completion of a Transit Signal Priority (TSP) Handbook for use by transit industry professionals in the United States. The handbook was developed in coordination with ITS America and the Federal Transit Administration to provide transit industry professionals with a comprehensive process for planning and implementing TSP based on a systems engineering approach.
The handbook provides background information on TSP, as well as project planning, design, implementation, operations, and maintenance information. Additionally, it includes TSP state of the practice based on interviews with transit agencies using TSP in North America and TSP technical information, including system architecture, equipment, software, and communications. The handbook also contains sections on traffic engineering and transit concepts and terminology pertinent to TSP
