GeoDecisions co-instructs a two-day course developed by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), in cooperation with the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. The course instructs participants on how to evaluate and plan for the implementation of a variety of transportation applications that rely on spatial data technologies.

As part of this training, GeoDecisions provides examples of applications that use today’s major spatial data technologies, including GIS, LRS, remote sensing, Web-enabled technologies, and global positioning systems (GPS).Instructors use examples of GeoDecisions’ showcase projects to illustrate cross-cutting technological and organizational issues, such as development requirements, technological challenges, training needs, and evaluation measures.

The course content is targeted for various professional users of spatial data technologies, including state departments of transportation, metropolitan planning organizations, county/city governments, and professional staff from state/federal agencies that have cooperative efforts with other agencies, such as environmental data warehouse sponsors, transit agencies, and airport/port authorities.

Participants learn how to make use of spatial data technologies in an environment where data sharing and cooperative agreements are essential components for success.
