GIS Analysis of the Highway Performance Monitoring System

GeoDecisions analyzed the FHWA’s HPMS data and identified opportunities to improve the federal agency’s process with enhanced GIS capabilities. For this project, GeoDecisions developed a Web-based GIS-HPMS Viewer application to allow users to view and explore HPMS-related data and maps through GIS functionality linked to an existing HPMS application.

GeoDecisions also developed tools and processes for converting and integrating state-submitted GIS-based roadway networks that include HPMS attributes. These capabilities are designed to facilitate construction of a roadway network that is based on native-format state networks, allowing states to streamline their submittal processes. The solution also promotes nationwide viewing and analysis of HPMS maps and data by FHWA.

FHWA’s integrated GIS viewer is an integral part of the overall HPMS submission process. The application is fully integrated with the existing HPMS application used for data review and submissions from state transportation agencies.
