Project Detail
Safety Analysis Management System Phase II
Client: Mississippi Department of Transportation
MDOT selected GeoDecisions for the SAMS project. For Phase I, GeoDecisions provided project planning, needs analysis, requirements definition, and database design services for SAMS. This process resulted in documenting a vision statement, strategic goals, system requirements, a logical database design, a data dictionary, and a Phase II work plan.
In Phase II, GeoDecisions is working with MDOT to complete design, development, testing, deployment, and training tasks. Phase II also involves the creation of a plan for ongoing maintenance and future enhancements. The Beta release of SAMS includes the ability to:
- query crash data using combinations of more than 40 different data elements from the Mississippi Uniform Crash Report (MUCR), Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS) data, and calculated values
- query crash data using a variety of spatial query methods in combination with attribute queries
- perform advanced query functions that combine multiple basic queries
- save and retrieve queries and result sets
- view crash data query results in summary, map, and tabular form
- view MUCR crash diagrams and narrative descriptions for selected crashes
- create collision diagrams based on query results
- identify homogeneous locations based on user-selected input parameters
- calculate critical crash rates, actual crash rates, severity indices, over-represented crash types, and other statistics for homogeneous locations
- query against saved homogeneous location analysis result sets and view the query results in summary, map, and tabular form
- create reports that include crash data, homogeneous location data, maps, charts, and/or collision diagrams
- combine multiple data sets into a repository that organizes, integrates, and disseminates safety related data.
