GIS Web Portal Framework/Straight Line Diagram Application

Client: West Virginia Department of Transportation

WVDOT contracted GeoDecisions to develop a GIS-enabled Web portal framework and integrated SLD application. WVDOT’s business data visualization and analysis capabilities will be enhanced through a Web portal map interface that can display roadway-related infrastructure and business unit data, such as traffic volumes, roadway geometrics, speed limits, bridges, and pavement conditions. The integrated SLD application – the first analysis component to be integrated through the Web portal – will allow users to query and select all or part of a route through various filters to view diverse data.

For the first time, WVDOT’s data will be accessible through a map-based portal that forms a framework for integrated applications, such as the SLD. The deployment of this portal and the SLD application will provide WVDOT with the foundation to expand its spatial data analysis and viewing capabilities in the future to include additional applications, such as an HPMS analysis tools, a videologs viewer, and a project tracking application.

West Virginia’s Web portal and SLD application will integrate mapping and data for enhanced viewing and analysis. The framework will be expandable to support integration of additional applications, systems, and functionality.
