GeoDecisions Will Expand EGIS to Enhance U.S. Transportation Command Information Sharing

(April 23, 2014/Harrisburg, Pa.) GeoDecisions, an information technology company specializing in enterprise geographic information system (GIS) solutions, has been awarded a $3.4 million contract from the U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) and the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command Transportation Engineering Agency (SDDCTEA) to extend the capabilities of the Enterprise Geographic Information System (EGIS). EGIS enables USTRANSCOM agencies and other combatant commands to share geospatial data across the enterprise on both classified and unclassified networks.

“EGIS makes it easier for military GIS users to share information, avoid disconnected data silos, and increase operational efficiency,” said Brendan J. Wesdock, M.C.P., GISP, president of GeoDecisions. “We’re very excited to continue to further our partnership with USTRANSCOM and the EGIS stakeholders.”

EGIS also shares GIS data with the Intelligent Road/Rail Information System (IRRIS)®, a web-based geospatial platform developed by GeoDecisions and used by USTRANSCOM and SDDCTEA, among other federal, state, and local agencies. IRRIS has transformed how the U.S. military manages, documents, and synchronizes the movement of global surface cargo transportation. The latest GeoDecisions EGIS contract includes a six-month base in addition to four option periods.
