Powering Conservation with Location

It’s a one-stop location for every plan submittal. We enter all permitted and nonpermitted sites into PracticeKeeper to track our progress, activity, and communications. It makes it easy to find anything we want to know about a project – expediting our reporting process for the state and our response time to citizen requests.
— Kelly McLaughlin, Assistant District Manager, Allegheny County Conservation District

PracticeKeeper streamlines best management practice (BMP) tracking for state agencies, conservation districts, private consultants, and other environmental entities. This solution also allows you to record data easily and run reports on conservation plans, nutrient management, erosion and sediment control, watershed plans, and more.

Key Features

Access Anywhere

PracticeKeeper is a web-based application that is easily accessed from mobile devices and desktop computers. This flexibility means you can do your job from anywhere, whether in the office or out in the field meeting with landowners – saving time and improving workflows.

Custom Reporting

Use PracticeKeeper to quickly compile custom reports for submitting required compliance program data, responding to citizen requests for information and tracking best management practices within your conservation district.

Secure Document Management

Reduce paper clutter and store all documents securely in the PracticeKeeper cloud. With new features such as adding custom tags to documents and improved searching capabilities, it has never been simpler to consolidate all your data in one location.

Powerful Mapping Tools

By incorporating powerful location-based tools, PracticeKeeper makes it easy to visualize your data across the conservation district. Using spatial data layers such as watershed boundaries, the system auto populates location-based fields once new features are created on the map – streamlining data entry while reducing errors.

Modules

Conservation Planning

PracticeKeeper’s Conservation Planning module provides a secure, flexible framework to create, map, administer, and evaluate conservation plans. By analyzing landowner data and automatically populating critical information via spatial queries, planners can improve the sustainable management of soil, water, and related natural resources within their conservation district.

NutrientManagement.jpg

Nutrient Management

The workflow-driven tools in the Nutrient Management module streamline the tracking, administration, and evaluation of nutrient management plans. You can record important information about these plans to be used for compliance, reporting, and analysis purposes. Additionally, you can quantify nutrient management practices via spatial queries, and over time, modify or recalculate measures as needed. The module also tracks and manages details related to inspections, importers, imported manure, generated manure, and storage facilities.

WatershedMgmt.jpg

Watershed Management

The Watershed Management module supports the overall planning and management of watershed projects. By accessing spatial views of intersecting and overlapping BMPs in a watershed, you can better manage water quality problems, proposed remediation strategies, and defined implementation practices. The module enables you to plan for future projects to sustain and enhance watershed functions that impact flora and fauna within a watershed boundary.

ErosionSediment.jpg

Erosion and Sediment Planning

Record and manage plans to minimize soil erosion and water body sedimentation from land disturbance activities such as construction, earth moving, logging, and agriculture using the Erosion and Sediment Planning module. You can create and manage records tracking landowner information, BMPs, permits, fees, technical reports, meetings, and inspections.

Complaints.jpg

Complaints

Create, track, and manage complaints within your territory using PracticeKeeper’s Complaints module. The module includes complaint type, dates, address of potential incident, complainant, inspection, and responses.

BMPs

BMP information can be leveraged across PracticeKeeper modules using the BMP module, streamlining account information administration while reducing duplicative data entry. PracticeKeeper creates and manages narratives, including narrative templates for commonly used BMPs to save you time as you enter new types. Add new BMP types as the regulatory environment changes while preserving historical data using the land management tools.
