Cinco De Mayo Presentation at West Virginia GIS Conference

GeoDecisions Director Nate Reck explained why GIS is a perfect fit for state and local governments to plan projects and share those plans with stakeholders and the public during the 2016 West Virginia GIS Conference on May 5 at West Virginia University. GeoDecisions has worked with numerous state departments of transportation and metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs) and regional planning organizations (RPOs) to help manage their improvement plan programs, using GIS as the key piece to help define and manage those programs.

For example, GeoDecisions is partnering with WVDOT to manage and disseminate its state transportation improvement plan (STIP) data using GIS for legislators, stakeholders, and the public to provide awareness for projects planned throughout West Virginia. GeoDecisions also will highlight tools created for MPOs and RPOs that provide a GIS-centric suite to create, manage, and amend West Virginia’s transportation improvement plan (TIP) and long-range transportation plan (LRTP), which ultimately feed the WVDOT STIP program.
