No More Twisted Hierarchy of Corporate Overlords - Q&A with Justin Schneider, Web Developer

What was your experience prior to coming to GeoDecisions?

Justin: Prior to joining GeoDecisions’ team in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, my experience involved working with small agencies to create marketing websites with short shelf lives. While I really enjoyed web development, I wanted to be a part of something bigger, and create quality products that I could be proud of. At the same time, I didn’t want to lose the tight-knit bond that smaller teams share. I wanted to avoid limiting myself from being a drone by following orders from a twisted hierarchy of corporate overlords.

How would you describe your first few weeks at GeoDecisions?

Justin: Within my first week at GeoDecisions, I was adding functionality to a system that allows residents to track progress of transportation improvement programs, and extend its modular foundation to benefit future projects. Additionally, I was empowered to offer my opinion on issues, and given freedom to implement features as I deemed appropriate. I’m given enough independence to feel respected as a developer, while having access to experienced team members for assistance when needed.

What are you looking forward to at GeoDecisions?

Justin: I couldn’t be happier with my experience so far! I’m excited to continue to improve projects I’m currently working on, and provide new ideas to execute. I’m also very excited for my current project to launch, and witness it out in the wild!
