Meet Steve Kraabel, Senior Client Manager

Steve Kraabel Headshot

As a Senior Client Manager, Steve manages the day-to-day operations, and on site client engagement for one of GeoDecisions largest clients, Scott Air Force Base and United States Transportation Command.  Here, he manages the onsite sustainment of the IRRIS and EGIS programs while planning for the migration and execution of the Transportation GIS (TGIS) system (to replace IRRIS and EGIS).  Steve also is the project manager for the OCONUS port analysis project and the on-site GIS analyst support project.

Prior to joining GeoDecisions, Steve spent 14 years on active duty in the United States Air Force where he served as an officer developing, fielding new weapon systems, or upgrading and extending the life of legacy systems such as the F-16 fighting Falcon and the C-17 Globemaster III aircraft.  Steve also found his way into the IT world by managing the Satellite Data Handing System for the Air Force Weather Agency, leading the development of Theater Integrated Planning System (TIPS) for US Strategic Command. This paved the way for his career to managing the Global Transportation Network (GTN) and planning for its replacement system in 2009.

Steve is a member of the Project Management Institute, has an MBA from Central Michigan University and a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Colorado State University. He and his wife, Tammy, have two boys (Zachary and Elijah) who both play club level baseball and soccer year-round meaning there is usually one or two tournaments to attend each weekend.

Steve is very active with the local ‘Step Out’ walk/ride to cure Diabetes chapter, mostly triggered by the fact that his son, Elijah, has type one diabetes, who is the local youth ambassador for the organization.  The Kraabel family has helped raise thousands of dollars for the local chapter to support research and will continue raise funds and awareness whenever possible.

In his free time, Steve serves on his church’s council and helps lead the confirmation program for middle school youth.  His weekends are largely spent supporting his boys’ baseball and soccer passions.  Steve is originally from Minnesota and roots for all sports team hailing from the great north (Vikings, Twins, Wild and Gophers).  He and his family travel back to MN as often as possible.  Their boys enjoy spending time at their Grandparent’s lake home/hobby farm.

Steve enjoys the outdoors, and is looking forward to getting back into camping and hiking with his wife and two beagles. For now, Steve is happy savoring the days following his kid’s sports and seeing where that takes him.
